Listing Materials

The Book Shop makes available select inventory to online buyers via several industry-leading bookselling venues (including ABE, Alibris, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Biblio.com, Biblion.com, Borders, Choosebooks, eBay, Half.com and ZVAB.com to name only the best-known) as well as on our own website. The process of making books available online, and following through upon the (hoped-for) sale of each book, is highly detailed and formalized, starting with the creation of a listing, or record, for each book and culminating with the packaging and mailing of each sold volume.

To accomplish our work, The Book Shop offers three positions related to the internet aspect of our work, those of Record Initiator, Item Lister and Puller/Packager.

Briefly, the Record Initiator has several endlessly interesting duties, including research into each volume to be listed, then creating a database record. The Item Lister has the responsibility of completing each record accurately, thoroughly, honestly and in keeping with our commitment and guarantees to our online customers. The Puller/Packager has the duty of locating precisely each sold item and packaging it so carefully that no book we ship can be harmed by even determined postal employees.

Originally established as the proprietary reference page for employees of The Book Shop, we have chosen to allow access to this page and all listing, guideline and reference materials located herein to anyone who may find it of interest. In the spirit of transparency, perhaps to answer questions, perhaps to be of service to the global bookselling and book buying community, we make these copyrighted documents available for viewing.
